AMEB Piano Accompaniment Backing Tracks
Professional accompaniment tracks created specifically for AMEB exam preparation.
Each accompaniment has been carefully prepared to support the requirements of the relevant AMEB grade and repertoire, giving students a reliable musical partner for practice, lessons and exam preparation.
The tracks are recorded by John Alley, internationally renowned pianist of the London Symphony Orchestra. John previously recorded the piano accompaniments for the ABRSM examination syllabus in the UK, bringing extensive experience of the particular demands of examination accompaniment.
Tracks are prepared in consultation with Elisabeth Parry, professional flautist, teacher, author and former Trinity examiner, with close attention to the musical and technical requirements of each grade.
Please note: These accompaniment tracks are independently produced by Aurea Capra Editions and are not an official AMEB product, nor are they endorsed by or affiliated with AMEB.

“Thanks so much for this resource. The tracks are brilliant for my students’ practice preparation.” Amy T., Sydney
“Beautiful tracks. My daughter loves to play along. So much more fun for her.”, Jingyi W., Melbourne
“This is such a boost to my teaching. I’m not a pianist myself so this means I can work with my students on relating to the piano part in a way I couldn’t before. Super useful.” Stephen G., Sydney
More than just a “backing track”
These recordings have been prepared with the needs of the developing player and the AMEB in mind. Close attention has been given to marking criteria around tempi, dynamics and expression, and the accompaniments reflect the score exactly. Clicks are provided for ease of entry and to help navigate cadenzas.
Our aim is to give students an accompaniment they can trust — one that helps them develop secure ensemble playing and musical confidence while preparing their pieces, even when a pianist is not available.
Used regularly during practice, the tracks also help students become familiar with the complete musical texture of each piece, rather than learning the solo part in isolation.
