French music for alto flute

Something new for alto flute fans

We’ve just released two new books for Alto Flute and if you’re a fan of this beautiful instrument with its silky, mellow sound I hope you’ll enjoy them as much as we do.

First, for lovers of French flute music, there’s Après un rêve: 12 Fauré melodies, a collection of Fauré songs arranged for alto and piano. The simplicity of these beautiful arrangements means that they are are suitable for players of all standards. More advanced players will relish the scope for expression, melodic shaping, and tone colour that they offer. These gems of the French repertoire are ideally suited to the timbre of the alto flute and make perfect short concert and encore pieces.

Here’s what one reviewer says: “These sumptuous gems are ideally suited to the warmer colours of the alto flute. Especially wonderful are Lydia with it’s expressive shaping of the phrase, the running semiquavers in Notre Amour and the darkness of Automne. Après un Rêve is extra special. This is a great book – don’t miss it!”

Here’s the title song of the book, Après un rêve, which we recorded recently in the studio in our home here in France.

We’ve also just released an alto flute edition of An die Musik: A Lieder Album. This collection of beautiful songs by German romantic composers includes favourites by Schubert and Schumann, as well as music by Richard Strauss, Hugo Wolf, Alban Berg, Clara Schumann and Fanny Mendelssohn. These emotionally-charged concert pieces are perfectly suited to the mellow sound of the alto flute and give alto enthusiasts great scope to explore the  expressive depths of the instrument.

You can buy both these books as in digital download editions (which come with piano backing tracks included) or as print editions available from the website here or from music retailers worldwide.
