L’AMOUR: FRENCH ROMANTIC MELODIES
French music for flute arranged and edited by Elisabeth Parry and John Alley
A collection of beautiful French music for flute and piano by Gounod, Saint-Saëns, Massenet, Hahn, Chausson, Duparc, Offenbach and Godard. L’Amour brings together romantic, lyrical and virtuosic French repertoire, ideal for concerts, recitals, weddings and simply for the pleasure of playing.
ABRSM FLUTE EXAM REPERTOIRE:
Two pieces from L’Amour have been selected for the ABRSM flute syllabus: Godard’s Berceuse from Jocelyn at Grade 5 and Offenbach’s The Doll Song (Olympia’s Aria) at Grade 7. The collection is therefore particularly useful for players preparing for ABRSM flute exams who would also like a substantial collection of French flute repertoire to explore beyond their selected exam piece.
From our reviews: “This selection of short arrangements is perfect if you’d like to indulge in some lovely French melody! From the gorgeous ‘Softly Awakes my Heart’ to Gounod’s ‘Je veux vivre’ there is a good spread of styles here with Duparc’s haunting ‘Rapture’ being a particular highlight and the ‘Doll Song’ from Offenbach’s Tales of Hoffman the most substantial. The arrangements are great too so buy and enjoy!” Chris Hankin
